I almost died today…

Posted under Life & Ranting

On my way home from work today a Golden Retriever darted out in front of me. I swerved right, missed the dog, then I moved the steering wheel a teeny bit left and my car started to spin out of control. Mind you this was in the middle of the freeway! Thank god for these fires… Why you ask? If not for the fires the freeway would have had more cars and someone might have hit me, but since most of San Diego is burned down no one is driving and the freeway was empty. If there were more people on the road I might have gotten hit by another car while my car was doing donuts. I’m glad to say I’m totally fine I’m not dead, only a few bumps and bruises, my leg is swollen but I’m still alive. My dad asked my I swerved in the first place and just didn’t hit the dog. First, the poor dog, not his fault that he has no idea what cars are, or what freeways are. Second the dog was so huge my car would have been totaled, I can’t afford another car, and I need to work. Plus I just got my license back from having it suspended. (I didn’t pay a few tickets I had gotten so they suspended it but I got it back on Monday) I was so scared once the car started to swerve, it went straight for the center divider and I knew then if it jumped the railings I would have died so I swerved again to the right, then to the left and then it just started spinning in circles. My life didn’t flash before my eyes but I had a few thoughts. Of course like “I don’t want to die” was a first one to run through my head. Then came “I haven’t lived enough,” the “I want to get married, and have kids,” the “I still want to travel” and the ever so popular, “I don’t want to die.” Yeah I know I said “I don’t want to die” twice, but it’s an important one. I thought it a lot, lol. But in all seriousness I’m not to eager to go on any road trips soon, thankfully tomorrow is my day off and I don’t have to worry about even driving to work. I’ll ask Shawn to take me on Friday most likely since I’m still too freaked out now to even think about getting behind the wheel of another car.

Glad you’re okay! Almost got into a wreck myself yesterday too. Some pricks decided he wanted to make a right turn when he was sitting at a red light in the LEFT TURN LANE. The genius decided to turn right before I enter the intersection on MY green light. There was a nice sound of screeching tires and a l-o-n-g press on my horn. That’s why I miss living in the San Francisco…. public transportation.

A day off, though, means Sailormoon Stars. ;)

Good to see that you’re alright. So based what you said, do you live a ways off from the wildfires that have been ravaging South (?) California lately?

Glad you’re okay!! It’s a scary feeling when you think you might die.

I’ve felt it before when I thought I got shot. I don’t know who it was or what was happening but some car went speeding real fast and started shooting wildly for some reason. When I heard the sound {which sounded like it had a silencer} I just ran behind the nearest tree and stood there. There was a pain in my ribs, and I was touching all over trying to find my blood or a hole. But luckily it was just because I hit a small stump sticking out of the tree!! ^_^ I sat down under the tree and stayed there until I stopped shaking and could move my legs. The next day I heard that they were shooting with air soft guns… it was a prank on random people. -_- It was a horrible experience though…

@ TheBigN: Yeah i’m kinda in the middle of the fires, there are a few close to me but not close enough to be any harm. But since most of San Diego is burning and i’m north of there the traffic that goes north is a lot cleerer and i was heading north when this incident happened.

Glad you in one piece! I’ve never had anything serious happen when driving just the usual city bump and dodges. I’ts a good thing that you reacted in time!

I have never had anything happen like that .. Glad your ok .. freeway driving can be random … and dangerous

This is gonna sound strange but I have hit 3 birds so far o.0
    (Not on purpose.. I swear)
on the 405 and 55. I have missed every dog and cat .. but birds are too fast for me to react… the worse got beheaded by my side view after a semi next to me, nudged it with air .. and my windows were open, it fly over the passenger seat and bled to death in my back seat… staining it nicely, as i threw on my hazards, car filled up with feathers, honking trying to get to the side, as I rolled up my windows … Just makes you feel bad… when you feel there was nothing you could have done.

I hope you are fine now and that the injuries have healed:)

I think you are a wonderful person…to have taken such a great risk for saving a dog’s life. I know that the dog probably doesn’t realize what you’ve done for him…so I’d like to thank you for him.

I am not allowed to drive, so I never had to make such decisions…but I can appreciate your quick thinking and your thoughtfulness.

    Love,
