Well i was just surfing the old internets and discovered this Website that describes how to spot a fake. Well i already know how to spot fake since i’ve been buying figures for a while now. But i noticed that on the page they mentioned that a certain Kotobukiya knock off was going around. I noticed that i own the same figure and just took a second glance at her, and YES LADIES AND GENTELMAN!! I DQ, OWN A FAKE FIGURE!!! DUN DUN DUUUUNNN.
I’m so sad now, this was one of the first figures i bought, my Kotobukiya 1/8 Mai Tokiha. Well i can’t really call her Kotobukiya anymore now can I? I felt bad but then i do realize this was a long time ago, when i first started collecting figures. Before i even knew they sold bootleg figures. I also got her for a great price, only $20! I didn’t know of the old saying when i comes to figures on eBay. “If it’s too good to be true, it usually is too good to be true.” I never noticed it till now since she doesn’t sit on one of my main shelves reserved for my most favorite figures. Well i’ll admit for being a fake, she’s not too bad. But then being a figure connoisseur that i am, hehe, i can’t bring myself to keep her. So i’m selling her on eBay. Now don’t worry i’m not about to list her as new, or as an original Kotobukiya. I clearly stated that she’s a knock off. Plus i’m selling her for $19. Only a $1 than what i paid for her. Hopefully someone buys her, i’m in a slump atm with cash, still no job, and the future of finding one soon isn’t looking too great.
Well in case anyone is willing to buy her here is the link!

The greatest fear of any figure collector! Sorry to hear about the knock-off. Buying off ebay is always risky. Sticking with a reliable supplier like HLJ is probably the best even though it doesn’t get you the older figures.
All the bless with your sales!

I’ve been lucky in which I haven’t come across any bootleg figures, but then I’ve always bought everything from reliable sources. The only one thing about eBay, when people try to use my pictures of my figures without asking.

I was worried that my Alter Fate was fake because the coloring looked a little different than the display model pics but after discussing with some other people it was okay because AAA’s or whatever they’re called their sticker was on the box and they’re not bootleg.

I bought a fake ebcraft saber for $55 and lets just say im not too happy about it. I will probably sell it on ebay for like $15-$20 and specify that it is a fake one.
I really hate these stupid china companies who make fake figures for a living… so sad
