I agree with belela san about using flash can make the figurine flat. One of the reasons that I see here (possibly) is that you used the flash of the camera and that definitely "eats" everything and with no flash the figure would probably "disappear". I actually never photographed figures at night so I might give it a shot once the rain is over.
