I know DQ is a fan of FS/N, although I dunno what her reaction to Tsukihime was (or if she watched it). I love the story and the universe, and it boggles the mind on how this seemingly passed under my radar undetected.

DQ likes to use me as a barometer of Anime Goodness because we both have the same tastes and I’ll watch anything. I have a suspicion that DQ is waiting for me to tell her what I think of this series before she sits down to view it.

I need to sit down and watch it… maybe this weekend since I’ll be at DQ’s house I’ll force her to watch it with me.

If you’re going to make an attempt to watch Kara no Kyoukai, I recommend you make the commitment to watch the first three in one sitting or over a really short amount of time, so the memory of each is still fresh in your mind. It helps with understanding the story and the characters.

Nasu is notorious for his insane “kick-in-the-crotch” stories as is shown by Tsukihime and Fate (in their entirety, not the anime versions), and those were “lite” in comparison. Kara no Kyoukai is full blown Nasu long before he realized that the common individual was not ready for his injected philosophical lessons. That being said, the first chapter/movie of Kara no Kyoukai is going to leave you quite in the air (pun intended) unless you’re very familiar with the world established in Tsukihime and Fate, and chronologically, it takes place after the events of the third chapter/movie.

I’m assuming that the figure you’re talking about is Good Smile’s upcoming Ryougi Shiki in the Kimono figure. I already have it pre-ordered from Kid Nemo; I’m a Type Moon junkie like that. Good Smile is actually the ones who did the clay-mation included with each movie and all of their Type Moon figures are always top notch. They also have the Lion Saber Nendoroid coming out, much to my bank account’s dismay…
