Our apartment – 2016 NSFW

It's been not only a long time since I've posted here, but it has been a long time since I shared photos of my place. The last time you guys saw where I lived I was still living at home with my parents. It was back in 2012, so easily 4 years ago you saw my collection. Now you can see not only has my… [more]

[Alter] – Melty Review

So since I've moved into my new apartment I still hadn't set up my photography studio. Seems work has me busier than I thought I would ever be, however I took some time this past weekend to set up my studio so I could take some photos of my latest purchase, Alter's 1/8th Melty from Shining Hearts. Now… [more]

[Orchid Seed] – Yuki Review NSFW

Pre-ordered this figure the moment she was released for pre-order. I needed for for multiple reasons, she's sexy/half naked, plus while she's not Sora she reminds me of Sora from Yosuga no Sora! But she's Yuki from Maid Yome and she's pretty amazing. The only issue is her adorable mouth really looks… [more]

Nendoroid Storage Container

I recently went on a trip to a magical place, The Container Store. Ok it's not really magical, but I happen to have discovered a love for organizing my home. I tend to prefer Ikea and Daiso but we went to The Container Store on a whim and I discovered this lovely storage container! I've been needing… [more]

My chat with Takanori Aki of Good Smile Company

While at Anime Expo 2011, I had the distinct honor, privilege, and pleasure of sitting down and picking the brain of Good Smile Company’s CEO, Takanori Aki. Personally, I have been making repeated requests at the SPJA office to bring him down to Anime Expo and when I was informed that he would be coming as an Industry guest, I knew I had to have a few minutes with him. While AX Live did get to interview him, I sadly had a conflicting engagement to attend to. So while our interview with him will be posted soon, the questions were all questions I had provided as the resident Figure Expert. But afterwords, I was very pleased to find out he had more time and was able to come down for a small meet and greet and let me ask him some more questions of my own! While this interview was not recorded, I soaked it all up to bring you the amazing things I found out about Good Smile Company and why they continue to be one of my favorite figure companies out there!!

One of the many things I asked was how does the GSC umbrella work regarding companies such as Gift, Freeing, Max Factory, Phat Company and more.

He stated how they are all separate companies that he funds either through his own personal money or through GSC, that he wishes these companies to be able to focus solely on designing and making quality work without worrying about the logistics and financial parts of the business, so they can grow and produce quality work. Hearing this made me love this company so much more, It’s not a competition between them, but they collaborate to make better and better work! For a company to be able to be under the GSC umbrella and be able to focus on just making amazing pieces and not worry about marketing, distribution and more means they can focus on just quality and making more and more amazing items for us!

I asked with the laws in japan regarding censorship work regarding ecchi/naughty figures. He told me how the law is still lax enough regarding figures, since it’s not “pornographic” to them but instead “works of art.” I couldn’t agree more, I get asked so often what do I feel about naughty figures, while they are sometimes quite graphic, to me they are more artistic than pornographic!

I asked if they had any plans to release a series of figures geared towards women in the vain of the GEM series by Megahouse and the Altair series from Alter. Aki-san stated that they currently don’t have any plans and that in his experience most women prefer the female designs. He then asked me if they should go into making female figures. I told him how I personally love them all, Female and Male figures, but that many of my readers ask why there aren’t more male figures. I loved how he asked me for my input as a figure collector and as a female.

Meeting Aki-san was so amazing, while I joked on AX Live that I would cry, I will honestly tell you I kept my composure and was so grateful for this meeting. He also thanked me for having so many GSC figures and supporting them not only through my site but also through AX Live’s Toybox. I got his autograph and while I had my Rin Tohsaka figure with me I didn’t ask to sign that too since I already had the board signed. Now one life goal down, now to head to japan and see Wonfest and go eat at the GSC Cafe!

There will be a video later that I’ll post here that Jason from AX Live did with Aki-san, He asked some of the questions I always wanted to ask so you’ll see that soon!

Anime Expo 2011 was amazing! It keeps getting better and better for me and I’m ever so grateful for the opportunities I’ve experienced and the people I’ve met! Meeting Aki-san was a dream of mine and finally meeting him was just a huge highlight!

AX Live! Every Thursday at 7pm PST! We’ve been doing Giveaways recently so make sure to check out the show to be able to win some awesome prizes!! Plus every week we give away a 4day badge to the convention for 2012!

Hey, awesome interview. Was cool to read a bit of inside stuff regarding GSC. Thanks.

  4. I did an audio-recorded interview with Maki-san from Obitsu!!! I’m still squee-ing with pride about that. It will be up through otakunopodcast.com pretty soon. I have some major scoops, actually. Obitsu is getting ready for some major expansion.

Between what I know about Obitsu now (and you will very soon!) and the recent Volks announcements about DD3 and the first DDS body available outside Japan, the vinyl wars are so very ON!!! Who wins? Doll fans do!

To have the opportunity to meet and interview someone of this caliber is just amazing! I am very jealous, Good Smile is such an amazing company their work is some of the best out there. They are probably my favorite figurine producer.
