Alpha Tetsuo Review

I’m a huge fan of Akira, and when I first started collecting figures one of the first figures I got was Alpha’s Kaneda. The one of him sitting on the red chair. Ever since I got him I wanted the Tetsuo to match, but haven’t had the chance to get him. I spotted him once at a con for $40 which wasn’t a bad deal but the box was really badly damaged and I passed. I almost gave up hope of ever finding him when my good friend Jimsha came to my birthday party he gave me an amazing gift! This awesome Tetsuo figure I’ve been looking for!

For being such an older figure he’s really well made, the etching in his face, the wires, cables and machines coming from his body just look like he’s jumping from the page!

Oh that is a sexy smirk, looking at this figure I can’t help but think they made Tetsuo sexier in this figure than he was in the movie. I felt he was a bit of a crybaby in the movie, oh how figures can portray characters in completely different light.

Tetsuo is as mentioned an older figure but he’s stood the test of time. Having him in my collection is an honor and makes me proud not only have both him and Kaneda, but also to have such wonderful friends who understand what figure collecting means to me! If you ever spot either of those two amazing figures make sure you snag them before anyone else!

   I’m happy you’re happy. ^_^ I agree he’s a very well-made figure even by today’s standards, and if I’d liked the movie more (or at all, lol) I’d be doing this review myself!

   .. haha, nah, not really.. my last review was like a year ago.. -_-;

   I’ve always preferred Project BM!’s Medicom 1/6 scale figures of Tetsuo and Kaneda, but each to his or her, or inbetween’s own. Tetsuo and Kaneda are my favourite action figures of all time, since my Action Man Remote Control Grizzly Bear Attack Mission with the missile backpack RC Grizzly Bear has long been lost.

   Tetsuo to me is ironically the most outright political anime or kaiju character since Godzilla, on account of he’s unintentionally emblematic of everything wrong with secret government programs and censorship failing horribly due to sheer stupidity and incompetence. Kaneda on the other hand is a tough yanki who’s naive about the political goings on that destroyed his friend, but not for long.

   Kaneda and Tetsuo were bromance badasses from a brutal and apocalyptic era of anime that I’m sad may never return but considering the tsunami in Japan I can kinda accept why anime needs cute and happy characters to cheer it up more than ever.

   I have strong feelings about AKIRA, I guess.

   I’m a huge Akira fan too! And my favorit is Tetsuo. This figure is based on the manga: he’s much sexier there, and he has a decent character development. I would not love him if I only watched the movie, so if you are also a fan, I recommend the manga too. 🙂
