Ok, I never do movie reviews, heck I don’t even do anime reviews. But I just went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 4; On Stranger Tides and I feel like saying my bit…

Disney, you know I love you! I go to Disneyland maybe 4-5 times a month, I own almost all your animated movies and plenty of live action, You already own my soul. So why do you feel the need to drag on this franchise any longer? It’s been dead for some time now. Really, we all loved the first movie, when we heard of a sequel we all were first in line to see it, even when we were sorrily disappointed we went back for more and weren’t any happier. So why bring it back AGAIN? Plus with such mediocrity? This film just felt like an excuse to throw Johnny Depp back into the old costume, have him prance around and you make a few easy million. The story was so forced and the action scenes were so drawn out at a certain point people left for bathroom breaks, came back and they were still sword fighting, we get it, from the start we all know it was Penelope Cruz with a mustache. Also don’t get me started on the forced romantic relativistic between the two,  just pathetic. Especially with Angelica’s with the “I love my daddy,” “he’s not my daddy,” “help me save my daddy,” “Oh daddy don’t kill him,” My head was spinning trying to keep track of this sad little non-existent story you were shoving down our throats.

There were also so many lose ends, why would the English just let Barbarossa become a captain so easily, Ok I get they wanted the fountain of youth, but really? They would have hung him then found someone else to do the job… Plus Jack would NEVER have had an audience with the King of England… Ok, Ok… I know IT’S A MOVIE,  obviously they get to exaggerate. Oh plus in the trailers they kept talking about ZOMBIES, OMG THIS MOVIE HAS ZOMBIES AND PIRATES GO SEE IT! Yeah the zombies weren’t zombies really, just undead guys under blackbeards control, so not really zombies guys. Plus I wanted more mermaids, they were hot! Yes, even as a female I didn’t mind looking at the pretty mermaids, give me more! Also the forced relationship again with the mermaid and the one religious guy, who was so unimportant i don’t remember his name. How did they come to love each other so fast and then you don’t even find out what happens to him! Oh are we supposed to be left wanting more for a sequel? Really Pirates 5, the return of the underage mermaid and her uptight religious boyfriend who only loves her for her beauty? Great story there guys!

Look, i loved the first pirates movie, it was fun, then Disney decided we needed more! Disney changed the ride to add more Jack, you can’t go anywhere without seeing MOAR JACK! Really I’m so tired of this franchise I never ride Pirates anymore at Disneyland unless we wanna go by Blue Bayou to smell some yummy food or relax our poor feet since the line is never more than 5 minutes long. Oh yeah, the line is always short on a busy day since people are growing tired of damn pirates!

Now this movie was crap, would I recommend it to anyone? Unless you’re a diehard “OMG OMG OMG OMG GOMG I LURVE JOHNNY DEPP!!”  then yeah, him prancing around as Jack is entertaining up to a certain point. But it doesn’t carry a movie. That’s why the other movies had Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan, to give you a semblance of a storyline while Jack got to be Jack. If you want to bring this story back, maybe bring the mermaid back, but give her another guy, some non-religious asshole with some backbone please. But yeah… them mermaids were hawt! hot hot hot hototototototototototototot!

In a recent article on CNNGo about why “Why it’s better to date an otaku guy.” They talk about 8 reasons why Japanese Nerds are the best boyfriends. I won’t go into a review about the article so feel free to go read it then come back. During our latest Episode of AX Live we talked about the article and our question of the week was “Would you date an otaku in the US?” While I’ll be giving an answer on air I felt that knowing my nature of rambling I won’t be able to get out everything I feel about it during such a short segment so I should write it out here for you all. It’s no secret that I date and that I’ve had a couple of boyfriends, mostly Otaku. With my Limited Dating experience I figure I should give my reasons why I’ll only date Otaku men. I’ll have to go back a few years to give examples, back to my first boyfriend, We’ll call him boy #1.

Now Boy #1 was a boy from my High School and we dated for 2 years, this was during a time that I was becoming more of an Otaku. I didn’t have too many friends who knew about anime and my older brother was feeding me more and more anime every time we spent time together which was often. It was hard on Boy #1, he didn’t understand what i was watching or the appeal, I tried to help him get into it by lending him a few different anime but he didn’t even want to try to understand. This was also a time that I was getting into Anime/J-pop music and I listened to it all the time! The last straw with Boy #1 was when I had a mix cd of different anime openings/endings and J-pop and J-rock bands, i put in the CD in my own car non-the-less and he didn’t like it, so he took the CD and threw it out the window. I was hurt and offended, this was a part of my life now, something I loved that he had no intention of trying to understand. After that I broke it off.

I realized that I was so into the realm of Otakuness that I needed someone who understood the fandom, understood that dressing up wasn’t just for Halloween anymore but could be year round at different anime conventions, that I know the lyrics to A Cruel Angel’s Thesis more than the lyrics to the latest Kanye West song. I found Boy #3, now I’m skipping boy #2 since he was Otaku enough but just a jerk all around so no need to get into that…

Now Boy #3 was an Otaku, he went to all the fun conventions, had tons of friends who were into the fandom and even did concerts singing songs in Japanese. But even still while he was an Otaku it had it’s limits. There are certain aspects of the fandom that some people get into and other’s don’t. All of us figure collectors go through it on time or another, where someone says “why are you going to spend so much money on that plastic toy?” “You could easily buy a video game for that much money!” “$800 for a doll? That’s crazy you could buy a TV for that much!” While it all might seem harmless, it starts getting you down as a figure collector.

I no longer see myself as a “Normal Otaku” I’m a “Figure Otaku.” Yes I know my Anime, my Manga, and more, but I know my figures like nobody’s business. The fine line between Want and Need is very blurred, I don’t want every Yoko figure out there, I Need every Yoko figure out there. I don’t want to complete that collection of K-on Nendoroids, I Need to complete that set. Yes it might seem crazed and like I’ve gone of the deep end, but that’s exactly it. I have gone past the point of no return, this is it, this is my life. I am Frances Delgado, Figure Collector. Boy #3 never understood that, he always put me down when it came to spending my money on figures. Things ended for different reasons but in the end I came to realize that Boy #3 wasn’t the right one because he never understood why it is that I have this collection, He never understood never tried to understand the hobby, the fandom.

It’s not just about dating an “Otaku” but finding an “Otaku” who fits you. We all know there are so many different types of us out there; the cosplayers, the musicians, the manga nuts, the dvd/bluray collectors, and more. It’s not just finding another Otaku but finding one who fits with you. I won’t jump the gun with the relationship I’m in now, but I’ll tell you that currently we seem to fit. He understand this hobby, heck he collects figures too. He doesn’t have as many as I do, and he asks me advice on whether or not he should get different figures (which i love by the way!) I adore helping people buy figures! I would love to do one day where I would take a group around the Exhibit Hall at Anime Expo and point out amazing figures and what to buy and what not to buy! Obviously if you have a specific taste we’d take that into consideration but it would be so much fun! Ok I’m getting off topic.

When it came to buying Dollfie Yoko, it took me a long time to finally get the nerve to buy her. $800 was a lot of money for me to spend, I knew that it had been over 2 years since I had first saw promotional pictures and knew i had to have her and still wanted her just as much, but my current boyfriend is the one who helped me make the leap. He was considering getting a 1/1 scale Paper Moon Ayanami Rei. But they’re $5,000 and when he saw they had a payment plan he would not stop talking about how he should do it and do the payment plan. In the end I realized, here is this guy, he adores Ayanami Rei as much as I love Yoko and is willing to spend $5,000 on her? I should be able to spend less than $1,000 on my beloved Yoko. I made the leap and set up a payment plan. Now as we all know I’m a proud parent!

So back to the article, Yes I’d say dating an Otaku guy is Great!

1. Access to an unknown world

For those otaku who are into different things, I try and find someone who is into most things I’m into, but there are always thing you may never have seen or heard of. There are so many different anime I’ve yet to see that he tells me are amazing. It’s nice to get a fresh opinion and new anime even if it’s older anime that I haven’t seen to watch!

2. Fresh date ideas

You can hang out with friends and go see anime movies in independent theaters, go to different anime conventions and meet new people. Going to cosplay gatherings, Japanese festivals in Little Tokyo.

3. Trustworthy

Now this isn’t so much otaku, because you can find untrustworthy people anywhere, I’d point out to boy #2 but then again I won’t go into that…

4. Shared obsessions

So true! When you both love something together it’s like double the love! Plus for instance, say we both love series A, and series A is actually an homage to series Z and your otaku date hasn’t seen series Z you can help them discover more awesome anime!

5. Enthusiastic conversations

You can sit around together and have in depth conversations as to why you just can’t get into Naruto and why he has to watch School Days. Why he feels that Wolf’s Rain is just so awesome and that I’m an idiot for not watching Inuyasha and that I’ll argue that Maison Ikkoku is so much better!

6. Respect for your sense of values

Again this depends on the person, even within our own otakusphere there are so many people with different values, morals, religions and more, finding someone who respects that and gets you is just simple rules of dating.

7. An expert helper

I will say with all the Otaku’s I’ve dated this is one to be true, I’m so computer retarded and most of them have been very computer smart, each one seems to get smarter than the other. Heck this site’s redesign was done by my current boyfriend. How do you like it?

8. Dependable

Once again this depends on the person, but finding someone that is dependable is always hard. Really only the current boyfriend has proven himself worthy of this title yet many men can just be douchejerks.

Of course this article is referring to Japanese Otaku and not Otaku in the rest of the world. in my experience in the rest of the world, Otaku men can be the same as regular men. Just they are into the same things you are, which is the benefit in the end. So for me, as with figure collecting, there is no going back, it’s only Otaku men who will understand me and this wonderful amazing thing we all know and love! How about you? Just got these in today from a friend who did some photo coverage of The Indecent Otaku comedy show at Anime Expo 2010 this year. I love these photos and sadly they’re the only good photos I have in this cosplay. Doing this show was really hard on me this year, so many things went wrong so quickly right before con and during con. I barely had a chance to sit and breathe or eat. Still I had a blast!

I thought while showing off these pictures I’d talk about The Indecent Otaku Comedy Show and my reasons why I won’t be doing the show anymore. It was a fun time when we did the first show back in ’09 with Anime-Diet with our group. But it was a lot of work and last minute things coming in. We tried to do the show again and not have last minute ideas, only ideas well rehearsed and well thought out this year, but sadly things didn’t go as planned.

We did have our videos, and guests planned out but still last minute with prizes things got hectic, we had so many issues with the raffle tickets, first not having enough, then having too much that ended up making the tickets so pointless that we had to throw out prizes into the audience, bad idea. Unless you were super tall you weren’t able to catch the prizes, I saw people hitting each other to get their hands on some of these figures and other prizes. It was honestly scary.

Not to mention my throwing arm is just horrible, as many of you who were in the audience noticed most of the prizes i threw kept going in the same direction, ACK! Plus we were so overwhelmed with Sponsor support that it became too many prizes to give out.

I’m not coming back to the show not because this show wasn’t successful or because of a falling out with any hosts. Heck Benu our second host is coming to my Birthday party this Saturday! He’s gonna do some magic for us! I’m only stopping the show since it stopped being fun this year. While it was amazing getting Danny Choo all the way over from Japan to come for our show and then also having him as a guest of honor, the show took it’s toll on me.

Normally AX Is a fun experience for me, meeting new people, scanning the exhibit halls over and over again till I’m absolutely poor beyond belief from spending all my money on figures. Catching as many concerts as I can, seeing fun interesting panels and more. This year? I spent so much of it in either my hotel room crying because I had no time to set up for the show and no one to help, or running around the convention like a chicken with no head trying to get things organized before the show on Saturday. It got to a point that the day of the show I was screaming at my best friends, yelling at cab drivers and on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and really I never let myself get like that and when we started our show we decided early on if it became “work” and “not fun anymore” we would quit, well it became work and wasn’t fun anymore. Heck I only got to go into the Exhibit hall once to look around and that was the last day about an hour before the convention closed, if you’ve ever gone shopping with me at a con you know I need at least 3 or so hours before I’m sure that I’ve seen everything and I know what I’m going to spend my money on.

I do hope that maybe one day someone will come back and do the show justice, make a comedy show that is entertaining, with live music, prizes and fun. But I’d rather be in the audience cheering them on then on stage doing the show. Not only that, with being on AX Live I’ll have tons of responsibilities of filming for AX during the convention and filming things for my own show Toybox, which coincidentally was supposed to air today but due to illness on our director/editors part it’s been postponed a week.

As for me, while I’ve been lacking in making new posts for you guys, I’m kicking things into gear now that this term for school is over, and I’ll make sure my class load next term isn’t so much that I’m kept from bringing figure reviews to you! Plus with AX Live, I’ve met so many wonderful people who collect figures as well who love lending them to me for review, so even if I can’t afford the latest and greatest figures they can and I’ll still be able to show you why I love this hobby so much! Meeting people who love the same thing you do, who understand why you love them so much and don’t think you’re crazy when you want to spend $800 on Dollfie Yoko!

On another note… Obligatory underboob shot for you guys. I figure I always give you guys the panty shots with figures, and the naughty parts, so it would be wrong to hide these from you…

I want you all to know, today on my 23rd birthday, I love you all. Between the bombardment on Facebook, Twitter, E-mail’s and MyFigureCollection messages of Happy Birthday to always the wonderful fans on AX Live’s chat during the show. You are why I still do this, that and because nothing can keep me away from owning the best and newest and prettiest awesome figures that are always being released! The once lovely Itahsa is no more. Was in an accident yesterday, got rear ended and now my car is an accordion. At a stop light i stopped but the person behind me didn’t. He plowed into me, making me hit the person in front. Now i’m carless and quite sad…

The person I hit didn’t even stop, yet they didn’t have any damage to their car, which is surprising when you see my front end. The officer who stopped told me that since he left I’m not liable and he would actually be in trouble since he left the scene.

From the pictures the back doesn’t look too bad but the trunk doesn’t stay shut and the frame seems to be all mangled up.

Poor Kero chan, at least he wasn’t hit but the rest was damaged.

I’m fine, went to the doctors had some xrays and a CT scan. I’m all fine but have taken some days off work since i’m on some very nice pain medication cause my back and neck are still very much sore and can’t work on my meds, that and now I have no car. Still waiting on the insurance to say whether they will pay for the repairs or just pay for a new car. I’m leaning towards new car since i’ve been eyeing a Mazda 3 In red! I’ll of course Itahsa that sucker out! BTW my car technically was no longer an itahsa for a while now, the stickers were low quality (of course i did them myself) and started to fade so my dad took them off with the pressure washer. Still i didn’t expect for this to happen and while i’ve been planning on getting a new car i didn’t expect this to jump start the process so soon. Either way i’m fine and healthy and very proud of my car for keeping me safe in this accident!

Now i do have a few complaints, the moment we pulled up and realized it was taking place inside of a trailer we had a bad taste in our mouths. Also once we saw that the venue was so small and that seating was only set up for groups of two we were left in a shock of where were we going to sit!

Sitting around waiting for them to at least two tables next to each other so we could at least kind of sit close to each other. We waited a good hour for them to find a seat. Not at all acceptable since they kept sitting other people. They should have waited to seat other people and seated us since not only did we purchase advance tickets and were “guaranteed seating” we were a larger group of 4.

The Banner says Welcome Home Goshujin-sama. Yet i didn’t hear it inside not even once. I tuly expected them to call us Goshujin-sama while there.

They did do a few dances, here they did the Hare Hare Yukai, which hey called “the Haruhi Dance” Honestly why not just say Hare Hare Yukai? Sounds at least much more professional to me.

Even though we requested a male host on our advance ticket we got a female maid. While she was nice she wasn’t a great waitress and didn’t know what was on their menu. But she was very polite with us and that made up for it. She had such a great attitude about the whole setup that it made up for.

We left the moment we finished eating since we were very disappointed. We did give them some advice and let them know what we felt about the café. While it was a nice idea it was badly organized and i do have to give credit where credit is due. The maids and hosts were all very nice and quite cheery and they did the best they could but it was just wasn’t really all that great. Too many things left a sour taste in out mouth and we were so disappointed in it. Hopefully if they do it again they try and make the menu a little better and maybe not try and have only Asian type food. While they want to keep with the anime theme it would have been better if they instead made it more café style food. Also if they promise things to the advance ticket purchasers then follow through on your promises. We were promised to sit with our selected host, received and autographed picture of them and to not have to wait for our seats. But instead we sat with someone we did not choose, we did not receive any picture and we waited for almost over and hour to sit and eat. Also they should consider that people will come with their friends and that not everyone will come in groups of 1 or 2. While round tables are nice but it would have been better to have square tables to be able to put them together and have space for groups. Last i’d also look for a new venue. Having it in a trailer park looked absolutely terrible. Hopefully they fix some of these issues and maybe we might go again, but for now we doubt we’ll be willing to shell out $20 for mediocre food and bad entertainment.

For all of you with someone to love, have a great day! For the rest of you awesome single people out there! Let’s all take this day and not be so cynical, one day we’ll have someone to celebrate this day with and then we’ll just be like the rest of these jerks who have someone this year. We’ll be just like them buying into the chocolates, candies, flowers, lame greeting cards and such.

But until then i’ll just enjoy this twelve pack of cupcakes i bought for this one picture all by myself. Why all by myself? Because these cupcakes are for single people only, and since I’m the only single person in the house that means i get them all to myself Muwhahahahahahahahahahaha! I’d send them to my awesome single friends online as well, but then they’d be all mushed so then all for myself then!

Also not sure if anyone noticed what the figma’s candy hearts say. I had it set up that they all held hearts with their own thoughts. Like Tsukasa holds a heart that says “Love Me,” Suzaku’s says “Hug Me,” Lulu’s says “Hold Me” and Kagami’s says “Cupcake.” Each one of them is holding the heart that describes what they truly want this Valentines day. I think i’m with Kagami and that my main focus is this awesome cupcake!

Well i really do wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day! Lets hope we can all find our someone special for at least next year’s valentines day!

I love being in mexico, it’s freaking sweet! The food is amazing, the people are so fun, hanging with family has been an utter blast! My flight was super awesome here unlike the last time I had a terirble flight. You honestly get what you pay for since my last flight was terrible and cost only about $33 and this flight was awesome yet cost me around $270, ouch!

So what’s my only compaint? No water pressure when showering and how you can’t put the toilet paper in the toilet. You have to put the paper in the trash can, which is seriously gross since when you go #2 it’s a pain to have to put the paper in the trash can and make sure no one can see it! Seriously gross! But that and then once you jump into the shower the water comes trickiling down and takes forever to get all showered and done! I’m not saying I want a fire hose blasting down on me but when it barely trickles out it’s hard to wash yourself let alone get shampoo and conditioner out of your hair! Other than that I’m having quite a blast! Going tomorrow to the con since today my cousin had to work >_<. Oh and he got his rental car towed today too! I didn’t know but he had rented a car for this trip to take me everywhere since his car was in the shop, so sweet huh? But he had to go to work today and took the car but I guess he parked someplace he shouldn’t have and got it towed. The worst part was that he thought at first it was stolen so pretty much everyone was freaked out that the car got stolen until he called us a little later to tell us that it wasn’t stolen but insteal towed! It’ll cost him a pretty peso to get it out but at least it’s not stolen! Well until tomorrow when i come with my post for Day one at the con!

Had the worst flight of my life! But then the majority of the day was bad! Our flight left Tijuana at 10:45am. My dad told my mom we had t be at the airport 3 hours early, and he told us that with traffic it would take us 2 hours to get there.

So we ended up waking up at 4:30am to leave at 5:00am. But then, guess what! No Traffic! We got there in an hour! We took our time to eat breakfast then crossed the border, get to the airport and i leave my mom and grandma in front with the bags while i park the car. But the machine that lets you into the parking lot was broken, so i waited 30mins to get in. Once i get in, NO PARKING! I found two sposts in the entire parking lot and they were far too small since on each side had huge trucks who parked on the lines. Not even my small Ion fit inside those spots, had to drive around till someone left. Then I get into the airport and go to check in our luggage, they tell us it’s only one suitcase per person so i end up having to carry 6 bags all by myself and push my grandma in her wheel chair (she can walk and does so fine, but it’s easier to take her in the wheelchair through crowed places). Now since my grandma is old, and my mom gets claustrophobic in planes we all like to site together, my grandma likes having us near, my mom gets the window and i sit making sure my grandma is fine during the entire flight. Now they promised us when we checked in that we would all be sitting together, and since my grandma is in a wheel chair she has to go on the plane last. Well looks like they didn’t transfer over the message of us sitting together and they separated us in the entire flight. I was so pissed, and there was one row with only one person sitting in it, i asked the lady if she minded moving and she didn’t mind, but they wouldn’t let her move, they made us sit in separate spots. Needless to say, my mom almost puked, my grandma’s blood pressure was up, and i was furious with the flight staff. Then I pull out my knitting needles mid flight to try and finish making my grandma’s scarf, and i had asked when we checked in if i was allowed to knit, they told me yes, it’s fine and that there was no problem. Well on the flight it felt like the staff was out to gt me, they told me i couldn’t knit, i then grabbed my MP3 player and no i can’t have it on, I was ready to punch someone and I’m not even a violent person! But then my mom explained later that it was a cheap flight. I asked how cheap, $450 Mexican Pesos, which is about $33USD, so i guess you get what you paid for. Just don’t ever fly VivaAeroBus if you want any kind of service or even decent human beings…

We here in the US may have gotten tired of hearing it over and over again, but you’ve got to go out and vote. Here in the US we have a big problem if people being too damn lazy and not going out to vote! It’s so easy and simple! Me however, I’m not going to vote. No point really, why am i going to go over to some place to vote today? It’s such a waste of my time to go out and take my time to go vote today. But that’s only since i did Early Voting! Haha Got you! I voted about two weeks ago since my awesome State of California does early voting too! But if you haven’t gone to go vote today go out and do it! It’s so important and this is such an important and historic election it would be stupid not to take part!
