Haven’t posted in so long now! I miss you guys! I’ve been really busy with work over at Good Smile Company! I’ve got some news for you all if you haven’t been all caught up. I’m officially running the GSC Facebook, as well as a new English Good Smile Blog called Mamitan Blog! Please check them both out and stay tuned there for more GSC figure news! I make new blog posts every Mon, Wed, and Friday!

For this update I thought I’d show off my newest girl! I pucked up her head at this past Wonfes in Japan! There is a nice section of people who bring out all sorts of amazing Doll stuff. More photos of the doll section at Danny Choo’s site.

I wasn’t planning on getting any new girls for a while as I already have 4 girls and was planning on making a 5th and possibly buying Mari for a 6th. So seeing this head at Wonfes, that she was so cute and a really great price I couldn’t help myself!

I’ve named her Hikari for no particular reason, just the first name that popped into my head when looking at her and thinking of a name.

I’ll be doing more to post on here, I know I keep promising this but I’m gonna buckle down for you guys! For more things to read however please check out my new Mamitan Blog!

Went back to Desu Nation the other day for a Maid Cafe event they were having. Sadly I forgot my camera and didn’t take any photos but it was fun and next time they are doing one I’ll make sure to promote it as you guys would LOVE IT just as much as I did! But afterwards they had a fun tournament for Weiis Schwarz, but here was the kicker! You could only use Trial decks! They tend to be a bit easier to play and have base cards with not too high a power, but it doesn’t let anyone have an unfair advantage. I decided to join in and purchased my own new trial deck of Sword Art Online!

The cards are beautiful which is really a big thing for me when getting a deck. I also jumped the gun a little bit and got the cards before I had even seen more than 3 episodes of the series. I ended up getting caught up and liked it a lot so I’m glad I got these cards! For a trial deck it’s pretty powerful and for once during a tournament I held my own and was 4th overall!

Can’t not get a case to hold your cards in! I also just finished watching The Idolm@ster and am looking forward to making an Idolm@ster deck soon! Picked up the Miki holder but also want the Makoto and the Hibiki ones too!

As well you can’t get fancy cards without a fancy card sleeve! Got the Melty one as I’m in LOVE with anything Tony Taka and couldn’t pass up the lovely Melty! I also just recently found out for Christmas my present from my brother was he entered the Volks Lottery for Dollfie Dream Sister Melty for me as I wasn’t able to order her myself. So I’m not waiting on pins and needles to find out if he won or not!

Back on the subject of Weiss Schwarz, if you are local in So-cal stop by Desu Nation one day. I might be there late at night playing with some friends! It’s really a fun game and if you’re even slightly interested we’ll find a deck to hook you in!

Haven’t done one of these in a while, this time it’s not so much a figure shop but a card shop that also carries Anime figures. I’m talking about Desu Nation in Temple City. First found out about this shop by my friend Charles who goes ALL THE TIME! He’s crazy into Weiss Schwarz and introduced me to Terry, the owner, and got me into the game as well!

First walking into the shop there is always huge group of people there, it’s a nice local hang out place and people battle each other there too! Many fascinating cards to choose from!

Found out that not only can the cards be rare and worth lots of money, but the card sleeves too! Since the sleeves are so pretty and can be worth money many people Double sleeve their cards to protect not only the cards but the sleeves too!!

Obviously this wouldn’t be a “Figure Retailer Review” if there weren’t any figures. Desu Nation also carries some of the more popular figures. As Terry really is a huge Anime fan himself he carries some of the more popular figures in his shop too!

Picked up my own deck when I went to Terry’s shop, Started out with a Guilty Crown trial deck but upgraded to some nicer cards to kick butt with!

Plus got some sexy Inori sleeves and as I mentioned, doubled up and have two sleeves to protect not only the cards but my Inori sleeves too! Do you do this with your card as well?

Even got myself a signed card! It was originally a loaner until we could find one more rgualr version, but I’ve grown to love it and will be keeping it as it’s too pretty to part with!

Desu Nation in Temple city is a really fun shop to go to. They not only carry Weiss Schwarz cards but also Vanguard and other series too! Terry knows his stuff and if you’re in the area I highly suggest stopping by, heck I might be sitting there with a couple of friends kicking each other’s butts in Weiss Schwarz!

We also have an event coming up this weekend if you’re a card player! It’s AX Live and Desu Nation doing a Vanguard Tournament and then a Weiss Schwarz Tournament too! I hope you’ll all come by!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here. I’ve been getting a lot of questions as to whether or not I’d keep this site as I’ll be working with GSC now. I’ll still post here from time to time, but lately my time has been taken up by work so it won’t be as often sadly. But last night I got a special package from my good friend Maridah from her shop BJD Atelier of some lovely dresses and I should I’d share them with you!

I also went out and got Nanoha some new eyes from Twin Snow. I’ve been wanting to change her basic eyes as they are actually very dark and I like the bright look when it comes to DD eyes.

I spotted the dress on Maridah’s shop the other day and I realized most of my clothes I purchased for Yoko and her large curvy body. So most of my DD clothes fit quite big on Nanoha and Saber. I’m hoping to change that and get all my girls an extensive wardrobe.

I’ve also recently moved to a new place, to be closer to work as I used to live about 2+ hours away from Los Angeles and needed to be much closer for work. I’m now 10-15 minutes away by car which is a nice change! My new place isn’t totally set up just yet but once we’ve hung up all the pictures and set up all the figures I’ll be sure to show off our new place!

Nanoha has such a sweet face. I’m very happy I finally got her, hoping to be able to post more photos once the heat dies down.

Yui also got a new dress and an eye change from Twin Snow. Not sure if she’ll stay a blue eyes girl or not, as cute as she is I can never find the right wig/eye combo for her. Any suggestions?

If you haven’t heard the news, then yes. It’s true, you’re eyes aren’t deceiving you. I GOT A JOB AT GOOD SMILE COMPANY!!! Let me give you all some back story that you might not have known.

Last year at Anime Expo I got to sit down and have a chat with Takanori Aki, the president of Good Smile Company. It had been a dream of mine to meet him and it almost didn’t happen. Previous Managers over at the AX Live office who shall not be named and do not longer work with us didn’t think I would act appropriate with Aki-san. They thought I would “fan girl” and decided to schedule the AX Live interview during a time that I wouldn’t make it and then told me he was far too busy and that I wouldn’t meet him. I was honestly so upset, I have been a fan of Good Smile for so many years, I had so many questions for Aki-san and he was so close, yet so far. It went to talk to our CEO and other departments heads and they calmed me down, said they’d speak to Aki-san to see if I could at least get some time to meet with him and ask a few questions of my own. I was so happy that there were people who truly believed in me, they know who they are and I love them so much, without them I wouldn’t be where I am now.

During my small chat with Aki-san I asked as many questions as I could about the industry, figures and more. When he left I gave him one of my business cards that have pictures I’ve taken of different figures. He liked them so much he took one of each of the cards that were figures that GSC had created. He as well gave me his business card and I did something I learned from Danny Choo many years ago, always send an e-mail thanking them for their time. It shows that you kept the card, allows you to link over your website and offer your services. I didn’t offer my services, I just thanked them for taking time out of their schedule to allow me to ask them some questions. I got a responce from them as well thanking me for asking such insightful questions but then didn’t hear back from them for a very long time.

It wasn’t till almost a year later that I heard back from them. While I was in Spain with family I noticed I got an e-mail from Good Smile Company wishing to set up a meeting with me at Anime Expo. I was so excited for this e-mail and had no idea what they wanted. My thoughts were; “The best thing they could offer me was just to give me figure for review for my site.” I kept trying not to get my hopes up as getting free figures for review would have been amazing. Instead I got offered something much more amazing.

During our meeting it was more of them asking me what I did for a living, how much I love anime figures and what I’ve done in the past for my own website, and AX Live. Then I get asked the question that made my jaw drop… “Do you think you’d be interested in working with us?”… BOY WOULD I!? Of course, I’ve been without paying work for over 3 years. I’d been trying to find a job for a long time and had been willing to take work I know I wasn’t going to be happy with, only to be offered work with a company I not only love, but have a true passion for.

There it was, the offer for my dream job, something I never thought possible. Good Smile Company had reached out to me! They wanted someone in the LA area, and they wanted someone who was passionate about their products. I’d left such a positive impression on Aki-san that they personally sought me out. That just doesn’t happen to everyone, but it’s happened to me. I hadn’t been able to talk about it for some time as we had to hash out the details such as payment, when I would start, what my actual duties were and what GSC expected of me. I started officially only a few days ago, and as I sit in the Good Smile Company offices in LA, I can tell you I’ve never been happier in my whole life.

This is my dream job, this is my dream career. I above all, want to thank you, the person reading my site. Without you, this would not have been possible. I started this little website back in 2007, just as a place for me to express my love of Anime and Anime Figures. I never started it thinking one day I’d be working for Good Smile Company. I never made the site thinking “Oh, I’m going to cover it ads and make so much money!” I made it to show the world that anyone can collect! Having people come and read my site only made it better and made it a reason to always strive to bring you new content. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sticking around!

TL;DR Met GSC CEO a year ago, he offered me a job a year later and made my dreams come true!

So with my new work with Good Smile Company I have a new twitter, and a new tumblr. It doesn’t mean I’ll stop posting here, it just means that I’ll have even more content of GSC stuff on these new sites. I’ll also be starting a new blog similar to GSC Mikatan’s blog but it’ll be new original content!  Also online I’ll have a new name with Good Smile Company, if you speak Japanese then you’ll want to follow Mikatan, if you speak French follow Maritan, and now of course for english and soon to be spanish you can follow me at Mamitan! Again, thank you so much for sticking around and I hope you’ll stick around more while I bring you the latest news from of figure and fun events from Good Smile Company!!

Freeing loves their 1/4 Bunny Girl figures, I do too even though I don’t have of them but maybe things will turn around with this new Nanoha set. First out for pre-order is Nanoha but they are making Hayate and Fate as well!

Of course it’s the Strikers version, I do think it would be awesome to have a Loli version of the three as well.

Nice view from the back, I adore the fishnets. More figure companies need to include actual fishnets!

She’s really adorable and only just came out for pre-order, she’ll be out sometime around December for about 13,000 yen. Fan of Nanoha, Bunny Girls and awesome figures? I’d so get this figure!

Ohh more figures that have come down from that open hole in my ceiling. I can’t wait till I tell you where they are all coming from, such awesome news! I’d been wanting Nessa for so long now, she was high on my wishlist and an instant pre-order. Except, I had to cancel the pre-order due to lack of funds, it’s the worst when there is a figure you really want but you have to pass them up cause other bills come up instead.

Nessa is from Fractale, which I’ve not seen yet. I’ve been told as well that this version’s hair isn’t even the same as the color for the character in the anime but is closer to the artwork it’s based off of. Interesting choice made by Good Smile Company. I do love the soft purple hair, it matches her eyes so wonderfully.

View from the back, lovely flowerrs in her hair are nicely sculpted and painted as well as the paint for her hair. The shading on her part really does give her extra dimension and adds that something special.

A tad bit of panty can be seen.

Even her shoes have flowers, I as well adore how they even get the tiny detail of her toenails.

Such a sweet face!

Nessa came out almost a year ago but you can still find her online at different shops. I’ve not seen the series yet, is it worth it to check it out? I’m tempted if only for the fact that this figure is just so lovely and sweet!!
