Our apartment – 2016 NSFW

It's been not only a long time since I've posted here, but it has been a long time since I shared photos of my place. The last time you guys saw where I lived I was still living at home with my parents. It was back in 2012, so easily 4 years ago you saw my collection. Now you can see not only has my… [more]

[Alter] – Melty Review

So since I've moved into my new apartment I still hadn't set up my photography studio. Seems work has me busier than I thought I would ever be, however I took some time this past weekend to set up my studio so I could take some photos of my latest purchase, Alter's 1/8th Melty from Shining Hearts. Now… [more]

[Orchid Seed] – Yuki Review NSFW

Pre-ordered this figure the moment she was released for pre-order. I needed for for multiple reasons, she's sexy/half naked, plus while she's not Sora she reminds me of Sora from Yosuga no Sora! But she's Yuki from Maid Yome and she's pretty amazing. The only issue is her adorable mouth really looks… [more]

Nendoroid Storage Container

I recently went on a trip to a magical place, The Container Store. Ok it's not really magical, but I happen to have discovered a love for organizing my home. I tend to prefer Ikea and Daiso but we went to The Container Store on a whim and I discovered this lovely storage container! I've been needing… [more]

Loaned Figures; Griffon Enterprises Marisa Kirisame

My brother is a HUGE Touhou fan so of course he had to get his hands on these awesome Griffon Enterprises Touhou Project figures. First review up is Marisa, I’ve also got a Reimu figure so expect her review up soon!

Love her outfit, love the big hat and the bloomers! Her character design is just so adorable!

She’s really well made and there is a huge jump in quality from these figures to my older Eureka Seven figures from Griffon.

They’ve really upped their game and I gotta say that once I can get the funds to start collecting figures again I’ll be keeping an eye out for Griffon figures.

Her mouth isn’t as nicely detailed as i’d like, She does have some issues there but then open mouths can be hard to master.

Her pose as well is very cute and I love how she holds her broom.

Very nice shading with her clothes.

The bloomers are a nice touch instead of having just teeny panties.

Great detail on the broom.

Love how the base has her name, The plain bases bug me but the name tag gives it something special.

A truly lovely figure that any Touhou fan would love to have in their collection. My Hint of the day is to check out AmiAmi.com They’ve got her up for pre-order

Even though you’re broke for figures, do you feel content just reviewing them? Sure there are some you wish you could own, but the rest you feel fulfilled seeing them in person, taking pictures?

    • Dancing Queen says:

It’s been hard, especially for figures like real image yoko that I really want. On the other hand it’s nice to be able to see figures I normally never see.

  2. lu-k says:

I am not quite sure if they really have “upped their game” … griffon product quality seems very random to me, even nowadays. Fortunately Marisa looks nice ^^

  3. xxanimetoonsxx says:

another cool review and i like the fact this figure isnt all about cute anime girl in as few clothes as possible. I think the bloomers are really cool!

    • Dancing Queen says:

It seems that with “moe” characters becoming so popular that having the half naked anime character is starting to fade a little.

  4. AS says:

The name tag looks very sweet. Not ever often you see that on bases. The pose is nicely made, stoic, playful, and amusing at the same time. The paint on her looks a bit “dull” to me so I don’t really like the paint job, but that’s just me.

    • Dancing Queen says:

It is a tad bit dull but you it can be hard to play around and bring more color to a figure with a color scheme as hers.

  5. Flip says:

    I like it, its cute.

  6. Leonia says:

For the moment, I prefer the limited version of Marisa on the star (but she is more expensive). I don’t really like the face of Griffon version. Something hurt me but.. I don’t know what

    • IshokuOsero says:

Yeah, I love Koto’s version of Marisa a lot also. This one’s nice and all, but Koto’s really blows all the other Marisa figures I’ve seen thus-far out of the water, which is really unexpected for them. I suppose a lot of companies are trying to make that big jump into being an important name for the best of the best quality figures, and the results have been really promising so far.

    • Dancing Queen says:

LOVE that version! I might have to see about getting that version for myself.

I think this is one of those figures that only speaks strongly to the fans of Touhou. Not being a fan of Touhou made me not even consider her at that price.

  8. ddh4mster says:

This is a nice figurine for any touhou fans out there, although i personally prefer Kotobukiya’s Marisa, Griffon’s will still do.
Somehow the end of 2009 and early of 2010 is filled with bunch of Touhou related stuff.
Regardless DQ thanks for reviewing Griffon’s Marisa ^^v
    great photos as always!!

  9. IshokuOsero says:

The one problem I’ve been having with Griffon’s figures as of late, at least the ones that my friends and I have gotten, are the HUGE bases that they seem to have for every last one of them. I recognize that big black base with the nameplate on it from Griffon’s Haruhi trio that came out early last year. I can’t really judge too well from your shots, but it looks like they haven’t gotten rid of that nasty thing yet. Takes up an awful lot of space.

    That being said, now that I finally gave up and started ordering Touhou stuff after years of telling myself I won’t succumb to it (the two GIFT posable plush and also the Reimu figma are currently on their way to my house, to start with ), I’m really regretting not having ordered Griffon and Koto’s Marisas. She’s my favorite character, and it hurts not having them. ^^;

    • Dancing Queen says:

I do hate the huge bases, it would be fine if they looked the same but were smaller but the big bases take up sooooooo much space.

  10. Vixums says:

Yeah, loving those bloomers~ My favorite part of her is her hair!

  11. Punynari says:

She is one of my favorite Griffon Touhou releases so far. Her face looks better then Kotobukiya’s (blasphemy!) in my opinion and even better then T Systems. Of course, I am in the minority with that opinion but different strokes for different folks.

Her hat is removable and her hair is just gorgeously detailed as well. Also, her fingernails are painted but on mine they were a tad sloppy. On my later Touhou purchases, Griffon got much better with their paint applications.

She’s a solid release and the only Touhou Griffon figures I like better are Remilia and Yuyuko so far.

    • Dancing Queen says:

her face is a little off in the kotobukiya version but then i have yet to see her in person! I love her hair here in this picture as you do!

  12. aos says:

She looks nice… but not nice enough. It doesn’t really capture Marisa. Griffon has done an AMAZING job on other touhou figures though… it’s too bad that they didn’t do as well on Marisa.

Bootlegs have already come out of this figure you know! You can buy a bootleg on ebay for about 27USD now… of course, it looks like crap.

  13. donald says:

i love Touhou and Marisa most of all. i sure wish i could afford this figure.

  14. AznWizzie says:

Cool. I also own this figure, being a Touhou fan myself. I found this place through Kotaku.

I see you have alot of figures πŸ˜‰

PS. Pretty cool stance you have there πŸ˜‰
I never thought about positioning the broom that way. (In fact, I didn’t even know its possible!)

Glad to have learned something. See you around πŸ˜‰

    • Dancing Queen says:

now i’m wondering which way is the correct way! According to the promotional pictures, your way is the right way!

  15. BakaMan says:

Very very pretty. I realize I’m a bit late to the whole “Marisa looks awesome” bandwagon.
And I do see her up on amiami (She got delayed to the end of this month. :O). I have a question though. Does her hat slide off easily? It almost looks like it would fall off if someone just touched it a little.. I remember the koto one having a magnet in it or something to hold it up. Is it the same for this one?

    • Dancing Queen says:

it doesn’t fall off easily but it does come off if you pick her up and play with her, but not if she’s sitting on a shelf

  16. Max Lingley says:

Pretty cool figure, I just ordered my first Touhou related figure last week, the Sanye Nendoroid I think, with the green hair, with frog and snake. It’s pretty excellent, and needless to say there’s some awesome figures for this series. I need to check it out methinks.

    • Dancing Queen says:

oh i love that nendo! i want them all but lack of funds and saving up for dollfie yoko, it’s hard to get other figures too
