Went to the So-Cal Cosplay Spring Gathering today. Never been to something like this and i have no idea who linked this to me but it just seemed like something totally fun to go to! We had decided to go some time ago but only finalized our plans to go yesterday and since i didn’t want to wear my Shugo Chara cosplay since it’s so hot i decided to make something on the fly! Went and got the material for the shirt and made the shirt last night and already had the shorts, wig, and borrowed the boots from a friend. Easy cosplay and fast FTW!
Went with a couple of my friends, we arrived a bit late only to meet my friends Fancy India and her boyfriend Loren. They dressed up as random Ouran High Students.

Found another Sheryl Nome! Didn’t get more pictures with her since we left a little while after… I had tons of fun, plus the fact that we didn’t have to pay for anything was awesome! They had listed on their website how you had to pay $10 and when we got there we were contemplating staying there without paying. But then these Park Rangers came up and asked us if we paid for our entrance fee for the gathering. We were worried they were gonna kick us out since we didn’t and told them we hadn’t but were going to. They then informed us that since we were in a public park they are not allowed to charge for entrance for the gathering. They told us how the $10 is only supposed to be a “donation” and that if we did pay to go back and ask for our money back! They did do a raffle and have BBQ so we didn’t mind not paying since we weren’t gonna participate in either. I had tons of fun and would totally go back and do this again for sure! No complaints yet i do wonder why their website listed Bill Cosby would be there and we didn’t see bill Cosby or even any Jello Pudding! I’m not sure if it was a joke? Or if he did arrive but arrived after 4pm since that’s around the time we left. Either way since i didn’t pay i can’t complain about anything, and even if i did pay i don’t think i would have complained since i did happen to have a blast! Also had someone ask to do a photo shoot, can’t wait till i get the pictures back, if i get his permission I’ll post them here later!

That’s probably very true. But I stay away from most blonde cosplays for that reason, I also just prefer fun-crazy-colored characters anyways.

i do love cosplaying crazy colored hair characters, my last big cosplay was Amu from Shugo Chara with the pink wig! It’s still so weird for me when i see myself since i’m so used to my black hair!

I saw that! It was really cute too, <3 to Amu. I was going to cosplay Suu with a bunch of friends but things like school, money and work got in the way so now I’m just doing Rydia from FFIV this year at the only con I go to.

they were of course the best dressed at the gathering, yet there was a bad duck cosplay, this huge as geese/duck/swam horrible jumble that was terrifying… i don’t know why i didn’t get a picture of it, it would scare anyone

These shots went up pretty fast! Thanks for getting my attention and taking photos, they came out nicely. Anti-Spiral is pretty fun to wear, all I’d need is a Messenger Nia cosplay partner to match and give people a better idea of what I’m supposed to be.

if i had the courage to wear that skin tight suit i’d go as anti spiral nia! i like Yoko as well but too many people cosplay as her and i love Yoko too much to ruin it myself
i always attend AX and this was my first time attending a cosplay gathering that wasn’t at a con, i’ll be sure to go to more things like this in the future for sure!

Very nice. And you looked hot! (Not in the temperature way, the sexy way.) The last cosplay-type event I got to see was the costume contest at GenCon last year. Sadly, Michigan has little to nothing in the way of events.

I like that Nagi cosplay a lot. Never dressed up as an anime character myself, I prob would if I had a group of friends into anime and cosplay though. Not because I need others dressed up around me but because it’s probably just a lot more fun if it’s a group thing.

When you gave me your card, I slipped it in my pocket for later but oh my God, if I had only turned the card over and saw your website URL, I would have told you I knew your site! (AAHH!) Your pictures came out amazing, holy cow! I’ve been cosplaying for less than a year now so I still feel awkward when I pose but wow, your pictures! I was very happy that you and a good number of people at the picnic knew who Nagi was. (And the impurity!) I’ll be bringing Nagi to AX (not sure which day yet) so if I bump into you again, I’d love to give you my thanks in person. ^_^
