Alpha Tetsuo Review

I'm a huge fan of Akira, and when I first started collecting figures one of the first figures I got was Alpha's Kaneda. The one of him sitting on the red chair. Ever since I got him I wanted the Tetsuo to match, but haven't had the chance to get him. I spotted him once at a con for $40 which wasn't a… [more]

KyoAni’s Nagato Yuki Review

Kyo-Ani's first step into making anime figures was such a lovely success. When Yuki was first announced I was apprehensive on getting her since Kyo-ani never made any figures before. It seems from their recent releases of K-on figures that this first beautiful release was a fluke since those suck,… [more]

Steam Powered Giraffe

Went to Balboa park today to see some lame train museum with my dad. Sorry dad but really I’m totally bored with Model trains! My backyard has been turned into a giant railroad and we added a back room and it’s my dad’s new train room! If you people think I’m a crazy figure otaku well my dad is a jillion time worse with his trains! Well back to the story at hand, we went to see the trains and after we left that museum we went walking around Balboa park and i spotted Steam Powered Giraffe. Just about the Coolest band i’ve ever seen!

I first heard about this band at the So-Cal Cosplay gathering when this girl who was also in a steam punk cosplay came by and told us of this club opening up and they’d have Steam Punk Giraffe there. We ourselves hadn’t heard of them but it sounded interesting. Later Fancy India told me she went to see them play in Temecula, CA. Which is super close to where we live and told us how awesome they were! I’ve been super excited to go later and see them myself and by sheer luck caught them today!

The Jon on the left and The Spine on the right. It’s hard to explain what they are exactly so i’ll let their website do the talking for me!

Finally Upgrade, loved her facial expressions!

There really is no way to describe their music but it’s truly awesome.

This music video should help but it doesn’t do them justice and they are so amazing live.

Check them out at steampoweredgiraffe.com They also have a myspace and facebook and really do deserve your love! I know I’ll be going out to see them again as they were just a joy to see and really made my day today!

Hey…I just found this after following a whim to google their band name, heh. They’re my friends and I’m glad you were happy about finding them. Though it wasn’t too sheer a coincidence, they play most every weekend at Balboa :p Jeez, I can’t wait till they’re popular enough to get to play in their own amphitheater, I worry about them passing out from heat stroke, dressed all in black in the middle of summer and all x.x
